Students of HSE Faculty of Computer Science Win True Tech Champ by MTS
The final of the True Tech Champ Programming Olympiad from MTS took place at the end of October. Twelve students emerged as victors from the competition, including two second-year master’s students from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science, Ivan Safonov and Maxim Gorokhovsky.
Fashion for Strong Women: Emancifashion Exhibition Takes Place at HSE University
In early November, the Emancifashion exhibition, dedicated to the representation of women in art and fashion, took place at HSE University in Maly Trekhsvyatitelsky Pereulok. The event, organised by first-year students from the HSE Media Communications programme, featured works created by students from the Fashion Design programme of the HSE Art and Design School.
HSE Unity Fest: Unity of Cultures and New Friendly Ties at HSE University
At the beginning of November, HSE University’s Cultural Centre hosted HSE Unity Fest, a large-scale festival organised by HSE University’s Chamber of Nationalities. The event was attended by 33 national clubs of the university, whose representatives told festival guests about the traditions of different nations.

Alfa-Bank has opened the IT space, a coworking area for project and business communication among students, at the HSE Graduate School of Business. Visitors to Alfa Space can enjoy its trendy cafe, discuss fintech with experts from Alfa-Bank, prepare for seminars, and brainstorm.
FCS Team Takes First Place at Rosneft Universities’ Hackathon
A team from HSE University’s Faculty of Computer Science took first place in a Rosneft hackathon held in October among the country’s universities. The hackathon was organised by the research institute RN-BashNIPIneft LLC. The competition participants had the chance to try their hand at solving real production problems.
‘The Trip to India Will Be an Exam for Every Participant’
From October 28 to November 29, 2023, students of HSE University will take part in an international internship at Lovely Professional University (LPU), one of the biggest universities in India. The exchange programme is intended for students of the bachelor’s programme in Media Communications and the master’s programme in Media Production and Media Analysis at HSE University-St Petersburg. The project will culminate in the creation of a documentary film about India, which will be shot jointly by students of HSE University and LPU.

The work by Sofia Fedotova, 4th-year student of the Bachelor's track 'Communication Design' at HSE Campus in St Petersburg, has made it to the final of the MAX3MIN 'very short' film festival in Italy.
Videos by the Media Accelerator for NGOs at the Faculty of Creative Industries Receive Awards at LAMP International Film Festival
On October 8, 2023, the award ceremony of the LAMP international impact film festival took place in Perm. In the ‘Social video advertising’ category, the jury recognized ‘Remove the stigma of HIV’ (directed by Maria Koneva, produced by Vadim Dolgikh) as the best video about discriminated people with HIV. Two other videos from the project – ‘Still Life’ (directed by Boris Chertkov, produced by Eleonora Klementyeva) about foodsharing and ‘Dobrovorot’ (directed by Maria Koneva, produced by Vadim Dolgikh) about secondhand clothing consumption – were also winners at the festival.
Students of HSE University in Nizhny Novgorod and Privolzhsky Research Medical University to Develop Self-Care App
Students from HSE University in Nizhny Novgorod and Privolzhsky Research Medical University have received one million roubles in financial support for the development and testing of StressTouch, an innovative mobile application. The grant was allocated by the Innovation Promotion Foundation (Bortnik Foundation).
Scientarium: Driving Young Scientists’ Development
In September, HSE University’s Voronovo Study Centre hosted ‘Scientarium: Young Researcher School’, a retreat for undergraduate and graduate students engaged in scientific activities. The Scientarium project started in 2021 in an online format, and was later held in the format of an educational retreat for the first time in autumn 2023. This year, the Young Researcher School brought together students from different universities across Russia.
