Cosmonauts and Neural Networks: Student NIGHT 2024 at HSE
Student NIGHT is a traditional HSE festival organised by Ingroup StS. On January 24–25, 2024, the Pokrovka campus turned into a huge party area, with lectures taking place alongside fitness sessions, a dance floor, quests, and themed clubs. Designer Artemy Lebedev, hip hop singer Antoha MC, and Olympic champions were the headliners of the party.
New Season of Rediscovering Russia Student Expedition Project Begins
From January 15 to February 15, the project website is accepting applications to organise and conduct expeditions for the 2024 season as part of the Rediscovering Russia project. In 2023, 1,000 students from 157 universities took part in the expeditions.
‘It’s Important to Combine Painting with Modern Technology’
On January 19, the HSE ART GALLERY hosted the opening of a new exhibition, ‘Majors, Minors. Aftertone’, which will last until March 10. The exhibition features works created by students of the HSE Art and Design School as part of their courses on modern painting and creating art projects using photography and neural networks. The exhibition was curated by artists and teachers Olga Chernysheva, Vladislav Efimov, as well as art critic Nicolas Audureau.
‘Carols Gave Me a Good Mood for the Whole Year’
In mid-January, HSE University students kept Russian folk traditions alive by taking part in Christmas carolling. Singing cheerful folk songs and wearing bright outfits, the carollers walked along the university building on Pokrovsky Bulvar, creating a real festive atmosphere. The event was organised by the HSE Heritage Club.
‘I Am Proud of Our Teamwork’: HSE Students among Winners of International Law Competition
As part of the international forum ‘The Nuremberg Trials and Contemporary International Law’ in Minsk, an international competition for undergraduate and graduate students was held. A team from HSE University was among the winners. The competition was organised by the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus and MITSO International University.
‘This Event Is a Step Beyond the Ordinary’
The HSE Lyceum hosted the Big Winter Event, a traditional large-scale celebration culminating in a gathering of Lyceum students in the Atrium of the HSE University campus on Pokrovsky Bulvar. During the preparations for the grand ball, which took two months, more than 2,000 Lyceum students and employees explored the theme of ‘the Renaissance’ in a variety of ways.
130 HSE University Students Receive Scholarships under VK Education Subscription Programme
As a result of the annual VK scholarship programme, the students receive monthly payments and other bonuses for developing skills and growing professionally. These include career consultations, access to a closed pool of vacancies and internships, the opportunity to participate in VK Education training programmes without undergoing an additional selection process, and a subscription to VK Music.

HSE University-Nizhny Novgorod has hosted a workshop on 'Intercultural Communication and Management: Swiss and Russian Views and Perspectives of Academia and Business.’ The workshop was organised by the Swiss Embassy in Russia.

At the end of December, the HSE School of Foreign Languages held its first-ever defence of student projects with the participation of industry partners representing large companies and organisations. Third and fourth-year students of the Bachelor's Programme in Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication presented their works to the members of the expert committee.
