Students from HSE University–Perm completed language courses in Tianjin, China. The programme included not only classes with native speakers, but also cultural events, accommodation in a dormitory at Tianjin University, and trips to local attractions.
Graduate of HSE University in St Petersburg Receives Award at ‘Chinese Bridge’ Competition in Beijing
In early September 2024, Anastasia Usyk, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Programme in Asian and African Studies at HSE University in St Petersburg, participated in the final round of the ‘Chinese Bridge’ International Language Competitionin Beijing, where she won the first prize in online voting and received the Audience Award and the Award for Most Outstanding Performance. She spoke about her experience in the competition,her studies and future plans in an interview with HSE News Service.
‘My Goal Was Not to Profit from the Corvids but to Develop Methods for People and Birds to Interact’
This summer, Rodion Mutsolgov from the Moscow Region enrolled in HSE University after developing a project to train birds of the corvid family to collect trash. His project was recognized as one of the best at the third annual research project competition for applicants to the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS), and also became one of the winners of the Ecology is Everyone's Business International Award. Double Winner of the International Olympiad in Informatics Admitted to HSE Faculty of Computer Science
Ivan Piskarev, a member of the Russian national team who won gold at both 2023 and 2024 International Olympiads in Informatics (IOI), has enrolled in the bachelor's programme ‘Applied Mathematics and Information Science’ at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science. He first won the competition in September 2023 in Hungary, and then again in September 2024 in Egypt.
HSE University and Yandex to Host International AI Olympiad for Students
The HSE Faculty of Computer Science and Yandex Education are launching their first joint AI competition, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis Olympiad (AIDAO), for students from around the world. Participants will tackle challenging tasks in science and industry and interact with experts from HSE and Yandex. The winners will receive cash prizes.
HSE Students Take Part in China ICBC Training Camp
In August, 2024, the China ICBC Training Camp took place in Guiyang. The Youthful Passion Fruit team from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science participated in the programming contest. This event brought together around 40 teams from China, Japan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Mexico, and other countries.
‘Intriguing Collaboration’: HSE Student Works Displayed at Yandex Museum
Last year, HSE University and the team at Yandex Museum launched their first joint competition, ‘New Life of Familiar Things,’ involving students from various fields at the HSE Art and Design School. Winners of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence Admitted to HSE University
In mid-August, Bulgaria hosted the finals of the first International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) among high school students. The Russian team demonstrated excellent results, winning gold medals in the scientific round, silver medals in the practical round, and coming first in both rounds overall. This year two members of the Russian team were accepted into the programmes of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science.
HSE University Wins Two Medals at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students
Two students, one graduate and one undergraduate, from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) programme in ‘Applied Mathematics and Information Science’ won prestigious awards at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC). Graduate Maksim Kazadaev and first-year student Daria Linichenko both represented HSE University at the IMC, winning gold and silver medals respectively.
Testing Satellite Communication and Preserving Northern Culture: New Expeditions of ‘Rediscovering Russia’
From May to August 2024, 19 student expeditions took place across 15 regions of the country as part of the third season of the ‘Rediscovering Russia’ project. Currently, 10 more project expeditions are underway. The second stage of the application selection for autumn expeditions began in early August, with submissions open until August 16.
