On March 22 at 9:07 Moscow time, a Soyuz-2.1a rocket with a Fregat upper stage was successfully launched. The launch vehicle carried a total of 38 satellites from 18 countries into sun-synchronous orbits, including HSE University’s CubeSX-HSE satellite, which will conduct remote sensing of the Earth.

On March 22, the enrolment period begins for the ‘Start-Up from Scratch’ minor, which is offered by the HSE Department of Innovation Management. The minor introduces students to different fields of entrepreneurship and guides them through the entire start-up process: from the development of an idea to entering the market with a product and attracting investors. 24 start-ups have made it to the stage of making their first sales. American professor Oliver Boyd-Barrett, author of the book Media Imperialism, one of the biggest studies of the contemporary media landscape, is among the international teachers recruited to deliver remote instruction at HSE University this year. His research interests include media, propaganda and international news agencies.

The names of the highest achieving students for the 2019-2020 academic year in the ‘HSE University and University of London Parallel Degree Programme in International Relations’ have been announced. Alena Akmatova and Svetlana Ilyushina, graduates of the HSE Art and Design School Master’s programme (2017), won the open Russian Post competition, which was held jointly with the Novgorod regional government and the Novgorod State Museum-Reserve in the autumn of 2020. Participants had to design a series of limited edition postcards and packaging dedicated to the cultural and historical heritage of the region

In 2021, the HSE French Club celebrates its 15^th anniversary. On February 15,Louis Ernou, a French student currently doing his Master’s in Russian Studies at HSE University, gave a talk about French history for the club members.
