HSE St. Petersburg: Cooperation with German Universities in History Studies
Department of History at HSE St. Petersburg is focusing on a global, comparative and transnational approach to historical studies, and cooperates with several European and American research centers. One of its primary partners is German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which sponsors a position of an Associate Professor for a German scholar, and Dietmar Wulff, the current resident, told The HSE Look about his three years at the department and plans for the future.

Expert on Soviet Economic and Demographic History Speaks at HSE
On October 10, Stephen Wheatcroft, Professor of the School of Historical Studies at the University of Melbourne delivered a lecture on ‘The importance of the grain problem in the Russian Revolution and for the next 40 years of Soviet Economics' at HSE Moscow as part of a long and busy schedule. A participant at previous April Conferences at HSE, Professor Wheatcroft is one of the world’s foremost experts on Soviet social, economic and demographic history, as well as famine and food supply problems in modern world history.

HSE Moves up 10 Positions in QS EECA Ranking
On its 25th anniversary, the Higher School of Economics (HSE) took 25th place in the QS EECA (Emerging Europe & Central Asia) Ranking, thus improving its result by 10 positions as compared with last year. This ranking includes 300 positions and takes into account higher education institutions in transitional European and Central Asian countries.
HSE Saint-Petersburg Will Teach PMI Project Management
Higher School of Economics in Saint-Petersburg is now recognized as a registered education provider (R.E.P.) of the Project Management Institute (PMI). PMI develops standards, conducts research, educates, publishes articles, journals and books, enhances cooperation opportunities in regional branches, holds conferences and training seminars, and accredits in project management.

According to the decision of Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, four HSE staff members were awarded badges of distinction and titles of honor.
Alzheimer, Parkinson Et Al
Globally, the burden of neurological disorders (Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, epilepsy etc) has increased substantially over the past 25 years. This problem is the topic of a recent report by the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) international project, which was published in The Lancet. One of its participants is Vasily Vlassov, Professor at the HSE Faculty of Social Sciences.
APEC’s Role in Sustainable Energy Development
Mr. Pengcheng Li, Director of CNIS (China) and Chair of the APEC Expert Group on Energy Efficiency & Conservation (EGEE&C), recently took part in the 50th anniversary meeting of the EGEE&C held at HSE Moscow. HSE at World Youth and Students Festival
On October 15th, 2017, the 19th World Youth and Students Festival kicked off in Sochi. Higher School of Economics prepared a research, education and discussion programme entitled ‘Economy and development for the future’ specially for the event.
