Russian Culture Festival Held for the First Time at HSE University
In early March, the HSE building on Pokrovsky Bulvar hosted theRussian Culture Day Festival. The event was organised by the HSE Department of Internationalisation. International students participated in quizzes, lectures, and workshops. They also had the opportunity to taste a traditional Russian dish—blini with jam.

In mid-March, HSE University celebrated one of the most enjoyable traditional feasts in Russia—Maslenitsa. The cheerful atmosphere allowed students to forget about their studies while they sang songs, danced in circles, took part in competitions, and, of course, ate pancakes and gingerbread.

Student for a Day: HSE University Holds Open House
A university-wide open day for undergraduate and specialist applicants took place at HSE building on Pokrovsky Bulvar on March 3. In one day, applicants and their parents got acquainted with HSE University campuses, faculties, degree programmes and pre-university projects. Faculty and staff, as well as HSE students, spoke about the admission process, studies, and the prospects for university graduates.
HSE University Hosts the First Meeting of Russian NGO Representatives as Part of BRICS Civil Track
More than 50 representatives of non-profit organisations took part in the meeting, where they discussed the event plan for 2024 and thematic areas of activity of the working groups of the BRICS Civil Forum, scheduled to be held in Moscow in July 2024. The BRICS civil track’s operations are coordinated by the BRICS Expert Council–Russia.
Faculty of Computer Science Students Took Top Three Places in Competitive Programming at Games of the Future
The Games of the Future in competitive programming were held in Kazan on February 28th–29th. 50 people from 27 countries took part in the competition. The Russian national team included seven students selected based on the results of the Russian championship organised by the Competitive Programming Federation. The team included three students from Applied Mathematics and Information Science at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science.
BRICS Expert Council–Russia Launched at HSE University
The official presentation of the BRICS Expert Council – Russia has taken place at HSE University. The Council will be responsible for the information, analytical and expert support of the Russian BRICS Chairship 2024.
'Unconventional Thinking Can Be Cultivated through Competitions Like Physics Tournaments'
Last week, university students from all over the country came to HSE University for the All-Russian Student's Tournament of Physicists. The tournament took the form of battles in which teams tackled physics problems while taking turns in the roles of speakers, opponents, and reviewers. Based on the competition results, the combined team 'Volume Dependence' emerged as the winner and will participate in the upcoming international tournament in Zurich.
Tea Ceremony, Naruto and Norigae: HSE Celebrates Year of the Green Wood Dragon
On the day of the second new moon after the winter solstice, the HSE Cultural Centre welcomed admirers of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese cultures. HSE students, teachers, and guests celebrated the Lunar New Year with South Korean hit songs and popular anime openings. They attended calligraphy and origami classes, tried regional sweets, and had Far Eastern teas. The festival ended with a big concert.
