This year, the Future Technologies Forum focused on new materials and chemistry. Scientists from HSE University participated in the event. Alexei Vagov, Director of the Centre for Quantum Metamaterials at HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM), discussed developments in quantum superconducting electronics and the creation of high-entropy materials for energy storage and perovskite solar panels.

Victory in Life and in Games: GameDevFest Held at HSE
The second GameDevFest, a festival for computer game developers organised by the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS), took place at the Pokrovka campus. Student developers showcased demo versions of their games, while guests and organisers discussed the state of the industry, opportunities for gamification, and game development education.

Exploring Traditions: HSE Students Celebrate Lunar New Year
On February 1, 2025, the HSE Cultural Centre hosted its annual celebration of the Lunar New Year. This large-scale event brought together students and teachers with an interest in the cultures of East Asian countries. The celebration was organised by the School of Asian Studies at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, the Department of Internationalisation, the HSE Chinese Club, as well as other university clubs—the Musubi Japanese Club and the Hanryang Korean Club.

In the context of increasing global competition, countries arestriving to ensure technological sovereignty. Those who can ensure economic development and concentrate intangible assets and human capital are emerging as leaders. The growing demand for qualified staff leads to an increase in the role of universities and the demand for early-career scientists. The challenges and opportunities for prospective specialists in the scientific community were discussed at the ‘StratPro Platform’ strategic session at HSE University.

‘Law Itself Is Art and an Important Part of Culture’
The HSE Faculty of Law and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts presented the results of the joint project ‘Law in Painting.’ The project aims to show the different aspects of interaction between law and art, to find common grounds between them, and to clarify the legal content of works of art.

Big Winter Event at HSE Lyceum: The Spirit of New Year and Charity
In December, the HSE Lyceum held the second ever Big Winter Event, a large-scale celebration combining the themes of the New Year and charity. The event was held in all four lyceum buildings, as well as in the atrium of the HSE University building on Pokrovsky Bulvar. There was something for everyone to enjoy—be it an economic biathlon or a chess tournament, debates or quizzes, master classes or karaoke—while keeping in mind those who need a helping hand.

‘We Strive to Become Part of a Living Tradition’: Christmas Festivities at HSE
On January 15, 2025, people dressed in traditional Russian folk costumes and sang carols accompanied by an accordion, rattles, and wooden spoons. The festive event, organised by the HSE Heritage Club at the HSE campus on Pokrovsky Bulvar, was open to everyone, attracting not only students and university staff but also local residents and their children.
