HSE has been included in two Times Higher Education (THE) subject rankings. It is ranked in the Top 500 for Computer Science and in 801-1000 group for Engineering.

University of Hamburg professors Denis Nosnitsin and Magdalena Krzyzanowska delivered a series of online lectures dedicated to the study of Ethiopian manuscripts. The course, which was developed for first-year students of the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies, was held as part of the Digital Professors project. ‘Teachers’ Day 2021 Inspires to Search for New Solutions’
A two-day seminar called ‘Teaching and Studying in the Time of Digital Transformation—Modern Approaches and Practices’ was held on Teachers’ Day 2021 as part of the Teach for HSE project. Speakers and participants shared ideas and insights that had emerged during the recent period of remote and hybrid teaching, discussing issues of digital etiquette, psychological aspects of online teaching, and new trajectories and opportunities for teachers’ professional growth.

Master of Computer Vision: New Online Programme on Coursera
In September 2021, HSE University’s Faculty of Informatics, Mathematics and Computer Science at HSE Nizhny Novgorod launched the new applied degree programme Master of Computer Vision. Developed in collaboration with leading experts in the field of computer vision - Huawei, Itseez3D, Intel, Harman, and Xperience.ai – the programme is available on the Coursera platform and open to applicants from all over the world. HSE Faculty of Computer Science Launches Digital Literacy Course on Coursera
A new Digital Literacy course created as part of the university-wide Data Culture project has been launched on Coursera. The syllabus includes ten modules developed by experts in relevant fields. Eleven authors worked on this English-taught course.
QS Rankings: HSE University Graduates in High Demand Worldwide
HSE University has placed in the top 250 universities worldwide in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings despite increased competition. A total of 786 universities were assessed for this year’s rankings—an increase over last year. The published list of 550 universities is also 10% larger than last year’s.
‘More and More Often, We Need to Analyse Data That Is Non-Financial’
In September, the new HSE online master’s programme in Business Analytics launched on Coursera. Its educational content is close to the practice-oriented on-site HSE master’s programme in Corporate Finance. Graduates of the programme go on to pursue brilliant careers in business, retail, banking and finance, as well as create their own start-ups.
European Values: From the Discovery of America to the First World War
The English-language course ‘Europe and the World, ca. 1500 to 1914’ has launched on Coursera. Its author, Andrey Iserov, Deputy Dean for International Affairs at the HSE Faculty of Humanities, examines a historical span of four centuries during which European states reached the peak of their economic, military, and political power. Students of the course will learn how the independence of Hispanic America by the mid-1820s influenced China, what caused the religious schism in Western Christianity in the 16th century, and how European colonial policy developed.

HSE University has once again improved its position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject in Psychology, entering the 101–125 cohort of the world’s best universities in the field.
