International Laboratory for Mirror Symmetry and Automorphic Forms
The new International Laboratory for Mirror Symmetry and Automorphic Forms will open at HSE’s Faculty of Mathematics in 2017. This project, overseen by Ludmil Katzarkov (Professor at the University of Miami), won the Fifth Mega-Grants Competition of the Government of the Russian Federation.
HSE Offers Traineeship Opportunities for International Doctoral Students
Doctoral schools provide an opportunity for international doctoral students to undertake part of their study or research at HSE. The university offers two types of traineeships – research and study. The study stay involves taking courses from the HSE doctoral schools. The research stay offers the opportunity to work with a particular academic advisor or at an international research laboratory or centre; gain access to international full-text and abstract databases, journals and books; and attend graduate seminars.
Faculty of Physics Opens at HSE
Students at HSE will be able to enroll in undergraduate and Master’s programmes in Physics, starting in 2017. Furthermore, including those working on doctorates, students will also be able to carry out research not only at HSE laboratories, but also several leading institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), which are launching joint departments with our new faculty.
Three HSE Educational Projects Receive Support of the European Commission

HSE Launches Joint Double Degree Master’s Programme with Paris-Sorbonne
The Higher School of Economics (HSE) has signed an agreement on establishing a joint double degree master’s programme with the University of Paris-IV (Sorbonne) in partnership with the French University College in Moscow. The agreement is applicable to following master's programmes: Philosophical Anthropology, Historical Knowledge, History of Artistic Culture and the Art Market, and Philosophy and History of Religion.
Faculty of Economics Undergraduate Programmes Get ACCA Accreditation
Thanks to this accreditation, future graduates of the HSE undergraduate programmes in Economics and Economics & Statistics will no longer have to sit the exams necessary to obtain an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (АССА) qualification.

Undergraduate Entrance Exams Offered in English for the First Time
This year, for the first time, international students applying to undergraduate programmes at HSE can take their entrance exams in English. These exams are necessary for admissions to the university’s two English-taught Bachelor’s programmes in Economics and in International Relations. Both programmes are run jointly with the University of London, a long-standing partner of HSE.
IQ.hse.ru to Communicate HSE’s Research Capabilities
The Higher School of Economics has launched IQ.hse.ru, a new research and educational website containing articles featuring the results of the most interesting research carried out by the university staff, as well as video lectures, presentations of academic papers, and recent books.
‘Innovation and Technology Should Be Open to Everyone, Not Only to the Rich’
International Laboratory for Experimental Urban Design has recently opened at the Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism. It will be headed by Vicente Guallart, a Spanish urbanist, chief architect for the city of Barcelona in 2011-2015, who will be joining HSE shortly. Mr. Guallart has talked to the HSE News Service about what the laboratory will do, what the Advanced Urban Design master’s programme, the principle of learning by doing, and the application of technology in the city life.
