HSE roundtable at the Istanbul UN Internet Governance Forum 2014
This year at the annual UN Internet Governance Forum, IGF in Istanbul, besides the HSE professors and usual dignitaries, Alexandra Permyakova, a Master’s student on the Electronic Business programme at the Faculty of Business Informatics got the chance to go along and take part in the Forum. The HSE delegation organised a roundtable discussion on Empowering displaced people and migrants through online education services.
Sociology and History: a Common Interest
The International Summer School ‘Intellectual History vis-a-vis the Sociology of Knowledge: Between Models and Cases,’ organized by HSE’s Poletayev Institute for Historical and Theoretical Studies in the Humanities, has come to an end. Researchers from Russia, England, France, Hungary, the U.S., and Germany discussed general mechanisms concerning the development of socio-humanitarian knowledge, its processes and its decay over the last several centuries.
Categorical Data Analysis
From 29 June to 12 July the HSE Laboratory of Comparative Social Research is holding the Fourth International Summer School on Categorical Data Analysis in Zelenogorsk in the suburbs of St Petersburg. This year academics have come both from the Russian regions and from abroad — CIS, Germany, Israel, Romania and the USA.

On June 19 the Expert and Advisory Board of the International Institute of Administration and Business held its regular meeting. They discussed the results of cooperation in 2013, 2014. Companies gave a summary of the master classes, and company consultancy projects for students on the Master in European Business programme and also discussed student internships. Jean-Luc Pipon, Managing Director, Head of Legal Division at Sberbank CIB was at the meeting and gave an interview to the HSE News Service about doing business in Russia today.

The third International Summit of Technology Parks and Business Incubators – ‘Technology Parks as New Drivers of Development for the National Economy’ – was held in Moscow. The summit was organized by the HSE together with the science park of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and Skolkovo’s technology park.
The Research Team of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy Have Gathered at the HSE Perm
Professors have arrived from three foreign universities. The director of the laboratory, Angel Barajas will be spending about a month in Perm, and curators Felix Iturriaga, Fernandez-Jardon Fernandez and Dennis Coates, about two weeks.
