Light Breezes Improve Moods of Social Media Users
Sergey Smetanin, Research Fellow of the HSE Graduate School of Business, conducted a large-scale analysis to examine the impact of weather conditions on the sentiments expressed by users of the Odnoklassniki (OK) social network. The findings have been published in PeerJ Computer Science. This is the first study of its kind in Russia.

What Makes Cities Attractive to Innovators?
How do we evaluate the contribution of innovations to urban development? Why do cities need innovation? How do cities attract top talents? These and many other questions were addressed by the participants of the international online discussion ‘Increasing the Innovation Attractiveness of Global Cities: Best Practices’ organised by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (HSE ISSEK) on March 1, 2023. The event also featured the presentation of new outcomes of a global study on urban innovation carried out since 2020.

In February 2023, the HSE University Cultural Centre hosted the festival ‘Colour of Asia: From Riyadh to Tokyo’ coordinated by the university’s Korean Club. A total of 24 student organisations took part in arranging the festival, including national, environmental, and charity clubs.

Viktor Durov, a second-year student of the Master's programme in Digital Humanities and an employee of the Department of Pedagogics and Humanities at Voronezh State Medical University named after N. N. Burdenko, has developed an interactive virtual tour around the Museum of Space Biology and Medicine named after V. V. Antipin in Voronezh.

HSE cHARISMa Supercomputer Completes One Million Tasks
Since 2019, the cHARISMa supercomputer has been helping staff, teachers and students of HSE university to solve research tasks. In February 2023, it completed its millionth task—a computational experiment dedicated to studying the phenomenon of multiparticle localisation in quasi-one-dimensional quantum systems.
Development of Faculty of Creative Industries Discussed at HSE Academic Council Meeting
On March 1, the HSE University Academic Council held a meeting at the building on Pokrovsky Bulvar. The main focus of the meeting was the development of the Faculty of Creative Industries. A secret ballot was also held for the competition to fill faculty positions.

To See by Touch: HSE Students Raise Funds for the Project ‘The World Through the Eyes of the Blind’
Students of the Bachelor's programme in Business Administration at HSE Nizhny Novgorod are implementing ‘The World Through the Eyes of the Blind’ public initiative as part of a project seminar. The students are holding exhibitions and workshops to raise funds through the crowdfunding platform Planeta.ru in order to install a radio system in a boarding school for blind and visually impaired students and to draw attention to the problems of people with visual disabilities.

HSE University-St Petersburg is hosting the exhibition 'From Hódmezővásárhely to Mosonmagyaróvár: A Typographic Journey around Hungary'. The exhibition showcases lettering compositions devoted to ten Hungarian cities and created by students of the HSE University-St Petersburg Art and Design School. The opening ceremony was attended by the director of the Hungarian Cultural Centre and the science and technology attaché of the Embassy of Hungary in the Russian Federation.
