Education news at HSE University

For Sebastian Billy Anggara, a 20-year-old student from Kediri, Indonesia, coming to HSE to study has been like a dream come true. After learning about HSE from his older brother, who is studying international relations in the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, he decided to apply to the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design to do a Bachelor’s in Advertising and Public Relations. Since the programme is taught in Russian, he will first study at HSE’s Preparatory Year to master the language.

‘Introduction to Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science’ and ‘Advanced Machine Learning’ are English-language specializations, both created with the support of the top Russian IT firm Yandex, while the specialization ‘Introduction to Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science’ was developed with the involvement of the University of California at San Diego.

Higher School of Economics (HSE) has improved its position in the U.S. News Best Global Universities Ranking for Mathematics, joining the Top-150 universities in this area. In addition, HSE joined the U.S. News Best Global Universities and the Social Sciences and Public Health rankings for the first time ever.

Department of History at HSE St. Petersburg is focusing on a global, comparative and transnational approach to historical studies, and cooperates with several European and American research centers. On its 25^th anniversary, the Higher School of Economics (HSE) took 25^th place in the QS EECA (Emerging Europe & Central Asia) Ranking, thus improving its result by 10 positions as compared with last year. This ranking includes 300 positions and takes into account higher education institutions in transitional European and Central Asian countries.

Higher School of Economics in Saint-Petersburg is now recognized as a registered education provider (R.E.P.) of the Project Management Institute (PMI). PMI develops standards, conducts research, educates, publishes articles, journals and books, enhances cooperation opportunities in regional branches, holds conferences and training seminars, and accredits in project management.
