Education news at HSE University

A new Faculty of Media Communications is being created at the HSE. Anna Kachkaeva, Dean of the Faculty, told us about its mission, courses, prospective students and graduates.

Starting from this year, all graduates of the Higher School of Economics will receive an appendix to their diploma confirming its compliance with European standards. Boris Zhelezov, Head of the HSE Office of International Academic Mobility, and Anna Korovko, Head of the HSE Office of Organization of Educational Process, told us about the opportunities which students will get thanks to this additional document.

Recently the HSE Higher School of Management welcomed a group of students from the Johnson School of Management, Cornell University, USA, which specializes in MBA programmes. Elena Yankova, Senior Lecturer of Management, Cornell University, and the head of the group, and Sergey Filonovich, Dean of the HSE Higher School of Management, told us about the study tour programme.

A Graduate School of Urban Studies and Planning has been launched at the HSE. The new department will be the first in Russia to train experts in urban spatial planning.

On March 25^th a meeting of the HSE Academic Council took place, where a new Faculty of Philology was officially established, and other organizational solutions were approved.

On November 9^th the Russian Ministry of Education and Science officially announced that the HSE and the George Mason University, among others, were winners of a contest organized in 2010 as part of the joint Russian-American university programme. This autumn a delegation from the U.S. Department of Education visited the HSE to discuss the prospects for cooperation. Boris Zhelezov, Deputy Vice Rector of the HSE, told us about the results of the visit and new directions of interaction.

Geoffrey Crossick, Vice-Chancellor of the University of London, took part in the HSE International College of Economics and Finance graduation ceremony on September 16^th. What else was in the programme of his visit to Moscow? What does he think about the problems and prospects for higher education development in Great Britain? And what about cooperation with the HSE?

Elena Guseletova, Head of the HSE Faculty of Public Administration Department of International Cooperation, told us about the results of this year’s summer schools organized by the Faculty.
