Software for Rapid Detection of Dyslexia Developed in Russia
HSE scientists have developed a software tool for assessing the presence and degree of dyslexia in school students based on their gender, age, school grade, and eye-tracking data. The application is expected to be introduced into clinical practice in 2024. The underlying studies were conducted by specialists in machine learning and neurolinguistics at the HSE AI Research Centre.
HSE Creates Centre for South Arabian Studies
The new centre will operate as part of the Institute of Oriental and Classical Studies (IOCS) at the HSE Faculty of Humanities, and its flagship project will focus on the study of the language and oral folklore of Socotra Island. The centre is a trilateral international partnership between HSE University, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and a consortium of leading universities in the UAE. ‘Today’s Communication Goes beyond the Classical Application of Digital Tools’
HSE University has launched a Bachelor's Programme in Global Digital Communications. This new online programme from the School of Communication gives students meta-skills, teaches them to communicate with artificial intelligence and set tasks for it, develops critical thinking, and inspires teamwork in launching creative projects. Graduates of this course will be able to conduct analytical research using Python and SQL, as well as strategically approaching global communication tasks.
HSE University and YADRO Open Workshop in Telecom Technologies
The Mathematical Algorithms and Modelling in Telecommunications workshop is a joint project of the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics and the YADRO company. In the workshop led by MIEM teachers and YADRO experts, HSE University students who successfully pass the selection process will look for solutions to pressing problems in the implementation of fourth- and fifth-generation mobile communications.
Bachelor's Programme in Political Science Opens New Regional Track
Starting from the next academic year, the Bachelor's programme 'Political Science and World Politics' will open a fourth regional track, this time covering the countries of Latin America. Students who choose this track will be able to immerse themselves in the political processes of the region and study a choice of Spanish or Portuguese.
HSE University Graduates to Be Able to Receive Diplomas in NFT Format
HSE University and the social network VK are launching a pilot project to issue NFT diplomas. The diplomas will take the form of digital images with programmed metadata about the graduate, their educational programme, and year of graduation. Graduates of 38 continuing professional education programmes at the Faculty of Law from 2019–2023 will be the first to receive such diplomas. Based on the results of the pilot project, the possibility of implementing the innovation in other faculties and educational programmes will be considered.

HSE University’s Online Campus Launches Courses on Three Partner Platforms
Open online courses from leading HSE University researchers are now available on the Russian platforms Lektorium and Edutoria and the Chinese platform XuetangX. HSE University’s online campus now offers more than 350 large-scale open online courses taken not only by HSE students and external attendees, but also by 15,000 online students from partner universities in Russia and other CIS countries.
