Master in European Business: Learning by Doing
The HSE International Institute of Administration and Business implements a Master in European Business programme together with ESCP Europe business school. The programme director, Pascale Martin Saint Etienne, told us about its specifics.
‘A Program in Business and International Relations is Now Available in Russia’
A new master’s programme in International Business has been launched at the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs. Irina Kratko, Head of the programme, told us about it.
International Relations
Starting from this year, as part of the master’s programme in International Relations in Eurasia at the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, the students are now specializing in International Relations (previously it was Political Science). Maxim Bratersky, coordinator of the programme, told us about the changes to the course.

Sergey Lando, Dean of the HSE Faculty of Mathematics and Head of the master’s programme in Mathematics, told us about some innovations in the Faculty’s master’s courses.
Partnership with the Oldest European University
Last year was designated the year of Russia in Italy and Italy in Russia. Nina Belyaeva, Head of the HSE Department of Public Policy, told us about the HSE’s cooperation with one of its key Italian partners – the University of Bologna, as well as about new academic mobility opportunities for HSE undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Double Degree is Double Value
On June 2nd the double degree master’s programme of the HSE Faculty of Public Administration and the London Metropolitan University Department of Law, Governance and International Relations was validated. Elena Guseletova, Head of this project and Head of the HSE International Educational and Research Center of Public Administration Department of International Cooperation, told us about this process and the new programme.

In October, Professor Abel Polese from the University of Edinburgh Institute of Geography gave a series of lectures at the Higher School of Economics for students of the Faculty of Politics, as part of the IMESS Visiting Scholars programme. Boris Zhelezov, Deputy Vice Rector and Head of the Office of International Academic Mobility of the HSE, and Abel Polese himself told us about the lectures and the IMESS programme.
Agreement on Cooperation in Software Engineering
In early November the Higher School of Economics and the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands) signed a partnership agreement.
Strategic Partnership Development
On November 9th the Russian Ministry of Education and Science officially announced that the HSE and the George Mason University, among others, were winners of a contest organized in 2010 as part of the joint Russian-American university programme. This autumn a delegation from the U.S. Department of Education visited the HSE to discuss the prospects for cooperation. Boris Zhelezov, Deputy Vice Rector of the HSE, told us about the results of the visit and new directions of interaction.
‘We Have Taken an Important Strategic Decision’
On September 17tha delegation from the University of Lancaster, Great Britain, visited the Higher School of Economics. At a series of meetings, the guests learnt more about the HSE’s activities, and were involved in negotiations regarding possible areas of cooperation between the two universities.
