Data Culture: New Times Require New Solutions
The Data Culture Project, a module of the educational programme at HSE University, was launched seven years ago. At that time, it was already clear that the ability to work with data had become an essential skill for any professional, regardless of their field. Thousands of students have since participated in the project's courses, and now it has expanded to all HSE campuses. In 2024, a total of 26,903 students passed independent exams on digital skills. Several updates to the course are planned for the upcoming academic year. In this article, we discuss the changes expected for the Data Culture Project.
HSE University Tops Forbes Education Ranking of Universities with Highest Reputation among Employers
Forbes Education has released a new ranking of the top 20 Russian universities with the most trusted degrees, based on a survey of the country's leading companies. HSE University tops the list, followed by Lomonosov Moscow State University, Saint Petersburg State University, and Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Educational Space of the Future: Dialogue between Russia and Uzbekistan
On June 24–25, 2024, the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Vladivostok hosted the fourth Russian-Uzbek Educational Forum titled ‘Educational space of the future: new competencies, innovations, technologies.’ The participants of the forum discussed issues of workforce training, the use of advanced technologies in education and medicine, digitalisation of the educational process, and educational management. The event brought together leaders from Russian and Uzbek universities, officials from relevant government departments, and representatives from scientific and educational institutions, including HSE University.
The XI Russian-Chinese Summer School on International Relations Kicks Off at HSE University
On July 1, 2024, the opening ceremony of the XI International Russian-Chinese Summer School on International Relations, titled ‘Partnership and Cooperation in the New World Order,’ took place. The event was organised by the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs in collaboration with HSE Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS). Graduate and postgraduate students from various countries have come to Moscow to study international relations and collectively envision a new world order.
‘This New Specialisation Will Be a Real Challenge for the Most Ambitious and Motivated Students’
The HSE University and Kyung Hee University Double Degree Programme in Economics and Politics in Asia is launching a new specialisation in ‘Quantitative Economics and Finance in Asia.’ Students will gain fundamental knowledge regarding the mechanisms, driving forces, and features of economic and financial processes in Asia through the prism of quantitative analysis methods. Ivan Deseatnicov, Supervisor of the new specialisation, Associate Professor at HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, speaks about the features of the new track.
HSE University—St Petersburg Hosts a Discussion on Russian-Congolese Cooperation in Education
On June 29, 2024, the President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso visited St Petersburg as part of his official visit to Russia. He spoke at the meeting of the Academic Council of HSE University—St Petersburg. The participants discussed Russian-Congolese cooperation in education.
Anti-Lectures, Jazz-Funk, and Drawing: HSE University Holds Economfest 2024
The Faculty of Economic Sciences celebrated its 32nd birthday. Students, graduates, teachers, and friends gathered for the traditional EconomFest at HSE University on Pokrovsky Bulvar. The event featured quizzes from language clubs, contests, lectures, and meetings with teachers. Festival guests enjoyed dancing, drawing lessons, new acquaintances and a three-tier cake, ie everything needed to make it a truly special event.
HSE Students Represent Russia at BRICS+ Youth Innovation Summit in Pretoria
In May 2024, Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, hosted the BRICS+ Youth Innovation Summit, where students from HSE University represented Russia. They successfully defended their business projects and were among the top 15 speakers, winning the event. The summit was organised by the South African BRICS Youth Association (SABYA).
HSE University Leads in 5 Subject Rankings of the ‘Three University Missions’
The RAEX agency has published the subject rankings of Russian universities in 2024. According to the research, HSE University came first in 13 subjects and leads in five disciplines.
KIVO-2024: One Million Roubles from Alfa-Bank and Academic Support from HSE University
The Competition of Innovations in Education (KIVO), implemented by HSE University in strategic partnership with Alfa-Bank, announced the first wave of applications. The participants can submit projects developing various innovations in education: methodological and technological developments, art/media projects, training simulators, applications, platforms, devices, board games, events, formats for creating educational materials, organising spaces and interactions, as well as other ideas. The winner of the competition will receive one million roubles, the winners in nominations from the competition partners will receive additional prizes.
