Higher School of Economics Expands Cooperation with University of Turin
On December 3, 2014 an Italian delegation led by the Rector of the University of Turin, Gianmaria Ajani, visited HSE. First Counsellor of the Embassy of Italy in the Russian Federation, Agostino Pinna and Pietro Fre, Deputy Head of Theoretical Physics Department and Attaché for Science of the Embassy of Italy in the Russian Federation were also present. The heads of the two universities signed two new cooperation agreements to extend the already existing links between them.
Joint MA Programmes: A View from Italy
A press conference on further development of the double degree programme took place at the University of Tuscia, Viterbo, Italy. University Rector Alessandro Rugieri said that, in Italy people understand how important cooperation with Russia is – in particular cooperation with HSE in Nizhny Novgorod – which is home to over a million residents and plays a key role in the country’s economic life.
Co-author of Polish Economic Reforms to Speak about Transition Economies on Coursera
On November 24, an English-language course will begin on Coursera called ‘The Economics of Transition and Emerging Markets,’ taught by Marek Dabrowski, a well-known Polish economist and professor in HSE’s Department of Applied Economics.
New Agreement with Rossotrudnichestvo to Strengthen HSE's Presence in Europe
On November 7, the Higher School of Economics and Rossotrudnichestvo signed a new agreement on cooperation. The document provides a framework for the future development of partnerships between Russia, the CIS, the Baltics, and Central and Eastern Europe in the educational and academic spheres.
Faculties Still Expanding at HSE
As part of organizational reform at HSE, two more ‘big’ faculties are being created – the Faculty of Economic Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities. These faculties will include educational and research divisions in their corresponding fields. Changes will also take place in the structure of HSE’s Moscow State Institute of Electronics and Mathematics.

On October 29th, 2014, Alexander Klimov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia, Alexander Biserov, Deputy Head of Rosobrnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Science and Education), and HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov, presented the annual monitoring of the quality of enrolment in Russian higher education institutions. The project was carried out by the Higher School of Economics and the Ministry of Education and Science in partnership with Rossiya Segodnya, an international news agency, and the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. HSE and Lappeenranta University of Technology to launch exchange programme in 2015
Agreements have been signed on a student exchange programme between the HSE and Finland’s Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT). The documents also call for the creation of dual-degree master’s programmes between the two universities.
