Open Day: The Future Begins Here
On March 2, an HSE Open Day for prospective undergraduates and specialist students will take place—one of the largest and most significant events for applicants, their parents, and the entire university. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with students and representatives of educational programmes, plan their admission process, and immerse themselves in the HSE University atmosphere for a day. The event will be held in Russian.
HSE is a relatively young educational institution that is constantly evolving and has already established its reputation in Russian and international educational markets. Over the past 30 years, HSE has grown into a university offering a broad range of study areas and specialisations. Its portfolio of educational programmes and their content is continuously updated and adapted to the demands of the economy and modern challenges, which secures HSE’s leading positions in rankings and a pioneering role in online education.
The university-wide Open Day is a traditional spring event that brings together the full spectrum of learning opportunities at HSE in one event. School pupils and their parents will be able to explore the modern environment of the university, meet the highly qualified team of lecturers, delve into the professional fields that interest them, and learn about career prospects.
Event Programme
The Open Day will run from 10 am to 6 pm at the HSE building on 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar. Throughout the day, an exhibition of departmental stands will be open; guests can speak with representatives from the university’s campuses, faculties, and educational programmes, find out about pre-university projects for school pupils, and learn more about the activities of student organisations.
In addition, an introduction to the university’s partner companies will take place in the atrium. At their stands, representatives from Sber, VK, and T-Bank will discuss joint educational projects for school pupils and students, offer advice on obtaining an educational loan, and host quizzes.
Georgy Shchelkanov
‘For many years, VK and HSE have been strategic partners—together, we help students gain a quality education and the necessary skills to launch a career in IT. Recently, we launched the School of Computer Science, Physics, and Technology, and we are actively developing the Engineering and Mathematics School with workshops in current and in-demand digital fields. We invite everyone interested in a career in technology to attend the Open Day. Within the VK space, you will be able to explore various digital professions, engage with experts, and learn how to get started on the right path in the IT sector,’ says Georgy Shchelkanov, Director for University Relations at VK.
Learn All about Admission
Alongside the exhibition, meetings with representatives from various departments will take place in the lecture halls. Visitors will have the opportunity to put their abilities into practice, learn about their chosen profession from experienced specialists, and take part in interactive training sessions—all available through masterclasses, games, and discussions organised by HSE’s departments and partners. The Open Day programme offers over 70 activities from different scientific fields so that each participant can delve into the area they wish to build their future around.
Prospective applicants can plan their steps for admission in the Cultural Centre, where lectures by the Admissions Office will be held throughout the day. The office’s representatives will explain the key aspects of the upcoming admission campaign, including changes to the admission rules, the number of available places and educational programmes, and important dates.
A special segment of the Open Day will be devoted to targeted education. Two lectures for prospective students will outline the opportunities and benefits of being admitted to the university under a targeted quota.
Features of the 2025 Open Day
The concept of this year’s Open Day is ‘HSE of the Future.’ Some changes have been introduced to ensure that communication with guests is as clear, comfortable, and modern as possible. Prospective attendees can already ‘test register’ for the event via a chatbot on Telegram. Entry to the building will be via a ‘multipass’ generated at the end of the registration process based on the user’s photograph.
Alexander Chepovskiy
‘HSE always keeps up with the times and is one of the first universities to implement modern technologies in its operations. Every year, HSE launches numerous new educational programmes—their total now exceeds 110. These programmes enable students to obtain higher education in the most innovative and in-demand professions, including in IT and artificial intelligence, the rapidly growing creative industries, or even at the intersection of these fields. That is why we decided to make the process of obtaining a pass for the Open Day more engaging and modern; each visitor will be able to generate, with the help of a neural network, an image of their professional future. The resulting image will be automatically integrated into the participant’s “multipass” and can be regenerated or replaced with an anonymised version if necessary,’ explains Alexander Chepovskiy, Director of the Prospective Students Office.
The on-site Open Day will be held on March 2 from 10 am to 6 pm at 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar. Those who are unable to visit HSE University on the day can join a webinar on March 16. During the online session, HSE representatives will discuss the key issues of admission in 2025, including opportunities for targeted education.
