Culture of Historical Memory: World War II and Political Regimes of the 20th Century
A group of 14 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of History at HSE St. Petersburg took part in a joint research and educational seminar with Humboldt University in Berlin and Bielefeld. The seminar, which was devoted to the culture of historical memory of World War II and Political Regimes of the 20th century, was led by Alexander Semyonov, Head of the Department of History, Dietmar Wulff, Associate Professor at the Department and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Kerstin Bischl of the Humboldt University Chair for the History of Eastern Europe. The trip was made possible thanks to a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service.

Jacques-François Thisse speaks at HSE Nizhny Novgorod
HSE's Nizhny Novgorod branch has hosted Belgian economist, professor at the Catholic University of Louvain, Jacques-Francois Thisse, and Academic Supervisor at HSE St Petersburg's Center for Market Studies and Spatial Economics, who read his paper 'Urban development, regional differences and effective transport'. Professor Thisse is very well known and respected for his research in spatial economics, new economic geographies, international trade and market analysis.

HSE St Petersburg has hosted a seminar entitled “Creative spaces: dream or dream solution?”, with the participation of Melanie Post van Ophem, former chair of the Rotterdam Council for Arts and Culture, and Hans Karel Wesseling, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in St Petersburg.
A Gathering of Historians
Zelenogorsk hosted an international conference on the history of diverse societies, as well as on the history of nationalism. The conference, which was called ‘Ruptures and Continuities in Histories of Empire: Federalism, Regionalism, and Autonomies as Alternative Political Imaginaries of Post-Imperial Political Order’, was organized by the Department of History at HSE - St. Petersburg and drew leading experts in the field of ‘new imperial history’.
New International Labs at HSE St. Petersburg to Study Economy of Health and Game Theory
On June 26, the HSE Academic Council approved the opening of two new international laboratories. Specifically, the St. Petersburg School of Economics and Management will gain a laboratory for the study of healthcare economics, management, and policy, as well as a laboratory for game theory and decision-making. The labs' academic supervisors will be renowned international scholars.
