On October 8, 2023, the award ceremony of the LAMP international impact film festival took place in Perm. In the ‘Social video advertising’ category, the jury recognized ‘Remove the stigma of HIV’ (directed by Maria Koneva, produced by Vadim Dolgikh) as the best video about discriminated people with HIV. Two other videos from the project – ‘Still Life’ (directed by Boris Chertkov, produced by Eleonora Klementyeva) about foodsharing and ‘Dobrovorot’ (directed by Maria Koneva, produced by Vadim Dolgikh) about secondhand clothing consumption – were also winners at the festival.

HSE graduate Eduard Sosnin has recently taken office as Mayor of Perm, a city with a population of one million and tremendous industrial potential. In this interview with Success Builder, he shares how the university played a pivotal role in helping him establish a successful business, his reasons for transitioning from business to civil service, and the primary objectives that must be addressed by the head of administration in a major metropolis.

On September 28, the HSE Cultural Centre hosted a memorial service for Evgeny Yasin, an outstanding Russian economist, one of the founders of HSE University, and its academic supervisor for many years. His family, friends, colleagues and students came to say farewell and bring flowers.

Evgeny Yasin, the HSE University Honorary Academic Supervisor who played a pivotal role in its establishment, one of the primary architects of the economic reforms in Russia during the 1990s, revered mentor and dedicated researcher, passed away on September 25.  Colleagues and friends of Yevgeny Yasin reflect on how he will be remembered by HSE University and the country.

Today, on September 25, 2023, Evgeny Yasin, an outstanding Russian economist, one of HSE University’s founding fathers and Honorary Academic Supervisor, died at the age of 89.

Maria Petrova, who holds a bachelor’s from HSE University Perm and a master’s from the HSE ICEF programme, is a department head at Sovcombank. She developed a course for master’s students at NES and ICEF that helps students learn the challenges of the industry and field job offers even before graduating. On August 30, the plenary session ‘Creating a comfortable urban environment is a determining factor in the development of megacities’ was held at the Moscow Urban Forum. The speakers at the event were Deputy Mayor of Moscow Petr Biryukov, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Dmitry Tetenkin, Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation Alexey Yeresko, and Vice Rector of HSE University Veronika Minina.

On August 22, 2023, the Human Capital Multidisciplinary Research Centre (HCMRC) opened an exhibition as part of the Technoprom 2023 forum in Novosibirsk. On the opening day, more than 300 people visited the stand, of which more than 50 took part in an interactive ‘anthropologist simulator’ and a visual attention test.
