On November 17th, 2011, Richard Rose, Director of the Centre for the Study of Public Policy and 6th Century Chair in Politics (University of Aberdeen) gave a talk on 'Thinking Conceptually, Analyzing Empirically: The New Europe Barometer' at the HSE Laboratory for Comparative Social Research (LCSR) in Saint Petersburg.

Androids Among Us

On November 15th 2011, Hiroshi Ishiguro delivered a lecture at the HSE on ‘Human, Androids and Media’. The event was organized by the Embassy of Japan in Russia, The Japan Foundation and the HSE Faculty of Business Informatics.

Education as a Research Field

On October 28th and 29th the 2nd International Conference of Higher Education Researchers ‘Universities and State’ took place at the Higher School of Economics. The event was organized by the Russian Association for Tertiary Education Research with the support of the HSE.

On October 19th a delegation from the University of Groningen (the Netherlands) visited the Higher School of Economics. The head of the delegation, Prof. Sibrand Poppema, President of the University of Groningen, told us about his university and the purpose of his visit to the HSE.

Alliance of 4 Plus the HSE

On October 10th HSE staff met with representatives of the Alliance of 4 Universities of Spain (A-4U): the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Madrid, Charles III University of Madrid and the Pompeu Fabra University. Boris Zhelezov, Deputy Vice Rector of the HSE, told us about the outcomes of the meeting.

The Road to Academic Excellence

The World Bank in Washington has launched a new book, ‘The Road to Academic Excellence’, which presents eleven case studies of young research universities from all over the world. The only Russian example included in the book is the Higher School of Economics.

Russia and the Council of Europe: Topics for a Common Agenda

‘Russia and the Council of Europe: Topics for a Common Agenda’ is a collection of analytical papers based on the results of the 10th session of the International Center of Russian-European Studies ‘Baltic Practice’. This was an event which took place in Oslo (Norway), organised by the University of Oslo with the support of the Wergeland Center (European Resource Center on Education for Intercultural Understanding, Human Rights and Democratic Citizenship).
